Matthew Vaughn Starts Production on The Stuntman, Next Film in Kick-Ass Universe D

Matthew Vaughn is already deep into producing his next feature film, a caper titled “The Stuntman,” Variety has learned.
Helmed by stunt performer turned director Damien Walters, the film tells the story of two brothers who both become stuntmen.
The feature, which is currently in production, comes from Vaughn’s Marv Studios banner along with Walters’ Zebbo Productions. Last October, they shot in Hampshire, where a local newspaper reported a “1970s-style fun fair” had been installed in the village park, complete with a helter skelter and ferris wheel.

“The Stuntman” is aiming for a launch at Toronto later this year or Sundance in 2025 and is part of a new “Kick-Ass” trilogy, according to Vaughn.

The first film of the trilogy, also produced by Vaughn and directed by Walters, was called “School Fight” and told the story of a teenager who gets into a fight with a love rival at school. It wrapped a couple of years ago, but despite teasing footage at the 2022 London Action Film Festival, it has not yet been released.
In an interview with Collider last month, Vaughn cryptically talked about a pseudonymous film he referred to as “Vram” which is currently in production and set to be the second film in the trilogy, with the third film being his long-awaited reboot of the 2010 hit “Kick-Ass.”
“The trilogy will be ‘School Fight,’ this movie, let’s call it ‘Vram’ for the time being, and then ‘Kick-Ass,’ and they’re all connected,” Vaughn told the outlet. Variety understands that “Vram” is “The Stuntman.”
He added that the script for the “Kick-Ass” reboot, which he’s been teasing since 2018 when he first launched Marv Studios, was halfway done.
Vaughn and Walters, who is also a freerunner and ex-gymnast, have a longstanding working relationship, most recently collaborating on Vaughn’s spy feature “Argylle,” for which Walters was second unit director. Walters has also worked as a stunt performer on films including “Jurassic World Dominion,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Vaughn’s “Kingsman” franchise as well as the original “Kick-Ass” movie.
Last summer the duo jointly acquired an 80,000 sq. ft site in Derbyshire, England which they are set to turn into a movie studio and stunt training facility.
