The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has announced an increase in the salary of civil servants in the state as a way to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.
The Governor, during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Rockview Hotel Owerri on Saturday, announced a N10,000 salary raise for civil servants in the state.
With the announcement, the new minimum wage in Imo State for civil servants would be N40,000.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana at the weekend said it is illegal for Nigerian Governors Forum to fix the price of petrol in the country. Falana was reacting to the N380 per litre of petrol recommended by the governors as the new pump price.
The activist, featuring on a Punch Live interview on Friday said he respected the Nigerian Governors’ Forum as an entity.
“Nigerian governors in their individual capacities lack the powers to interfere in the fixing of the prices of petroleum products,” he said.

The director of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 vision for a complete overhaul of the federal government stepped down Tuesday after blowback from Donald Trump’s campaign, which has tried to disavow the program created by many of the former president’s allies and former aides.
